Blogging in the dark

This is a new sensation. I'm sitting in the dining room at my usual computer spot, typing an update in semi-pitch darkness.

"Why this strange behaviour?" you well may ask. We've recently learned that the lights in our house work on a peculiar principle -- solidarity by floor. Whenever we lose a lightbulb, all the other lights on the same level go out as well. They only come on again after a fuse has been replaced (which, since ours is an old house, requires an electrician).

We lost a bulb in the lounge on Friday evening, so this is our third night of darkness on the main floor. Thankfully the plugs still work, and we're getting by quite comfortably with a bedside lamp in the kitchen and my fairy lights in the lounge. It's all rather fun, really. Should be back to normal tomorrow.

I've not known a house that doesn't have all the lights on each floor on the same fuse. You've done well if you've only just found that out though - we lost 8 bulbs in under a month. But not being able to put the fuse back doesn't seem good!
